Suddenly everyone has been talking about Social Networking. It’s spreading like a wild fire and there are way too many networking sites to remember. Most of us connect with our friends on a number of these sites and its always nice to know which of your favorite sites have made to the top.
According to the report from Hitwise, Facebook continues to be at number one with about 42 percent of total visits followed by one time biggest rival Myspace with 21.3% and YouTube with about 14 percent. Tagged, Twitter and Yahoo Answers follow with 1.7, 1.3 and 1.3 percent of total visits.
Its not just enough to know which all sites have made it to the top but its important to know how they have been faring over time. Lets have a look at how the top five sites have been performing in the last one year in terms of visits.
Facebook which had lesser visits than MySpace till November last year has has more than double its visits now. There has been a steady drop in the number of MySpace visits while YouTube has been quite consistent and has an increase in its visits. Twitter and Tagged were almost at the same number of visits last year but now Twitter has more than three times Tagged visits.

Does Orkut.com stand anywhere in the list? maybe in top 50?
Twitter will not survive by the end of 2012. it is just crap. 80% of the users are leaving a minute after opening the account
@Krishnadevotees Actually Orkut is not as popular in most of the countries as it is in India and Brazil.

I was surprised to see the big gap in percentage from Youtube and downwards in competition.

Nice insight Sweta, for top 3 there isn’t much competition, what would be more interesting here is how others especially twitter performs…I am big Fan of Twitter and would like to see twitter in top 3..
